Inspiral Carpets were one of the key bands connected to the late 1980s and early 1990s Madchester scene a movement that mixed indie rock, psychedelia, dance culture, and working-class Northern English attitude.

Formed in Oldham near Manchester, they became known for:

• Swirling Farfisa style organ sounds

• Psychedelic garage rock energy

• Dark but catchy melodies

• Indie attitude mixed with dance era culture
